    Day-by-day forecast for the whole trip. We size the gear for the worst day: the sleeping bag for the coldest night, the clothes for the roughest day.

What we get asked most

Is WildKit free?
Yes, completely free, and no account needed. Today WildKit makes nothing. There are no affiliate links on the site. There will be some one day, and we'll say so here, with the same rule as today: never any extra cost for you, and the product ranking won't depend on what the products earn us.
Does my data go anywhere?
No. Your kit and your trip stay in your browser (local storage). Only the weather is fetched online, from the coordinates of your starting point.
How is the weight worked out?
We add up the manufacturer's stated weight of every product you pick, then we add the estimate for what you'll use up: food and water by how long you're out, gas by the number of hot meals. That's the carried weight when you set off, bag full.
Can I use gear I already own?
Yes. Mark the item “Already own it”. It still counts in the carried weight but comes off the budget. That's how you build a bag without starting from scratch.
Where do the product prices come from?
From the price shown at the retailer when the catalogue was last updated. They move. Always check the product page before you buy.
What happens if I'm leaving in more than 15 days?
Beyond the reach of the forecast, we switch to the seasonal averages for the place and the altitude. We still size your bag, just with a slightly more cautious margin.
Does WildKit work outside France?
Yes for the weather and the sizing, anywhere in the world. The product catalogue and the retailer links, on the other hand, are aimed at French-speaking Europe.
